Swirl portrait

Good thing that here’s a doll portrait to make up for the numerous portrait dolls I’m spotting around lately. And I could go further by saying that portraying a doll thus making her a “persona”, is as much a celebrity index as dollifying a human celebrity. What you see here is a Swirl Ponytail Barbie by Marlene Dumas now exhibited in Berlin at Haus der Kunst.

Meno male, anche un ritratto di bambola per compensare tutte qlle bambole-ritratto che becco in giro ultimamente. Potrei andare oltre e dire che ritrarre un bambola, facendone un personaggio, è un indice di celebrità tanto quanto trasformare una celebrità umana in bambola. Quella qui sopra è una Swirl Ponytail Barbie dipinta da Marlene Dumas ed ora in mostra a Berlino, Haus der Kunst.

Swirl before/after

Looking at this sculture by Paolo Schmidlin, author of polychrome terracottas, cultor of vintage dolls, and IMO a very sharp artist in depicting corruption, decay and perversity of human beings, well, I imagined that this wrinkled and unsympathetic lady is an elderly Swirl Ponytail Barbie. Only the hair architecture recalls her smooth lost beauty. I love playing these visionary before/after.

Vedendo qsta scultura di Paolo Schmidlin, autore di terracotte policrome, cultore del vintage, artista penetrantissimo nel raffigurare corruzione, decadimento e perversità degli esseri umani, mi sono immaginata che qsta rugosa signora indisponente sia un’anziana Barbie Swirl Ponytail. Solo l’impalcatura dei capelli ci ricorda la levigata bellezza perduta. Mi piacciono qsti prima/dopo visionari.
