A dress form is not the dress nor the person nor a body. It can be, however, a way to evoke the three of them. So you don’t know which doll dress will fit which doll, but you can see a doll body, sewn in its details, sculpted to portray without being a portrait, curvy and sexy and ever softer than the real doll’s. A dress form is in fact kinda patient placeholder, an incomplete secret between you and the couturier, an excuse to accept and love other forms of incompleteness as well.

Una forma per abiti non è il vestito, né la persona, né il corpo. Può essere però un modo per evocarli tutti e tre. Così, non è dato sapere quale vestito di bambola starà a quale bambola, ma si può vedere un corpo di bambola, cucito nei dettagli, scolpito per ritrarre senza essere un ritratto, curvilineo e sexy e addirittura più morbido di qllo della bambola vera. Una forma per abiti è infatti una specie di paziente segnaposto, un segreto incompleto tra te e il sarto. Una scusa per accettare e amare anche altre incompletezze.
