Dire che sono bambole ipperrealistiche equivale ad ingannarsi, perché sono bambini. I bambini di Loretta Lux. Coi loro occhioni belli aperti, i loro capelli poco lavati eppure ben pettinati o ricci naturali, i loro abiti fuori moda… sono vivi? Respirano? Quale innocenza o quale crudeltà abita i loro sguardi vuoti? Dolls to tell

Dolls play a particular role when they, in a protected environment, e.g. help abused children to report about their experience. It’s when the interviewer uses dolls to re-act the event, or asks the child to indicate on the doll’s body how things happened. It’s a very difficult, a very sensitive task, and somehow a controversial one: a doll might encourage the child to engage in fantasy, thus altering or contaminating or inventing the reality. Actually, a friend in the police told me that many children tend to innocently tell what happened – tell in words, even without dolls – at risk of being not believed or listened to! So maximum attention must be paid to any possible behaviour change they might show.

Le bambole hanno un ruolo particolare quando per esempio, in un ambiente protetto, aiutano i bambini vittime di abusi a riferire la loro esperienza. È ciò che succede quando l’intervistatore si serve di bambole per rappresentare l’evento, o per chiedere al bambino di indicare sul corpo della bambola come si sono svolti i fatti. È un compito molto difficile, molto delicato, e in qualche modo controverso: la bambola potrebbe indurre il bambino ad agire di fantasia, così alterando o contaminando o inventando la realtà. In verità, un’amica nelle forze di polizia mi ha detto che molti bambini tendono a raccontare candidamente i fatti – con le parole, anche senza le bambole – correndo il rischio di non essere creduti o ascoltati! E così, si deve prestare la massima attenzione a qualsiasi loro comportamento insolito.

Purposely misplaced, not so directly product-related, not for sale, but interestingly within a child’s visual field. Triggering granny’s buying impulse when strolling around?

Vetrina a Berlino. Niente di fashion, cool o trendy. Soltanto polverose e incolori scarpe femminili e sandali in un layout scarsissimo. A parte un dettaglio: alcune Barbie, messe lì per attrarre l’attenzione, o se preferite, come attention getter. Apposta fuori posto, non direttamente collegate col prodotto in mostra, non in vendita, ma - e qsto è interessante - all’altezza del campo visivo di un bambino. Per scatenare nella nonna impulsi d’acquisto durante il giro in passeggino?
