Print the Dot

Addendum to "Dot. Doll. WOW" post of a couple of days ago. Animators at the UK studio Aardman used a 3D printer to make 50 different versions of Dot, because she is too small to manipulate or bend like any other stop-motion animation characters. The figurine’s tiny features stretched the limit of the printer — any smaller and it would be hard to make distinct limbs. Each one was hand-painted by artists looking through a microscope.

Gli animatori dello studio britannico Aardman hanno usato una stampante 3D per realizzare 50 differenti versioni di Dot, troppo piccina per essere manipolata o piegata come qlsiasi altro personaggio da animazione stop-motion. I mini-connotati della figurina hanno sfidato i limiti della stampante – appena più piccoli, e sarebbe stata dura rendere distintamente gli arti. Ciascuna figurina è stata dipinta a mano al microscopio.

Dot. Doll. Wow!

A kinda tiny (9 mm tall) Alice in need of a good sleep but threatened by a series of micro-macro dangers, is offering us a spectacular escape among fabrics buttons nails metal minutia, then a storm a flight till the genial ending. Dot, this is the movie title, taken in stop-motion using a mobile phone, captured viewers for the most various reasons. As for me, you might easily guess why.

Una specie di minuscola Alice (alta 9mm) bisognosa di un buon sonno ma minacciata da una serie di micro macro pericoli, ci offre una fuga spettacolare tra stoffe bottoni chiodi minuterie metalliche, poi una tempesta un volo fino al finale colpo di genio. Dot, qsto il titolo del filmato, realizzato in stop motion con un cellulare, ha catturato tantissimi spettatori per varie ragioni. Quanto a me, facile indovinare.
