Hybridolls

I don’t like all what I see and don’t believe it’s always for a good cause but profit… however I’m interested, and registering. Hybridating doll and animal features is a quite old concept with many contemporary developments (just think of all those cartoon and comics characters and merchandising!) reinforced by a more ancestral and powerful penchant for hybrid idols, e.g. in the myth as in many religions. Back to us today, pls take a look at Svjetlan Junakovic's “Sheep with a pearl earring” compared with the same subject in Blythe version; or Ray Caesar’s dollish creature in a painting and those PIPOS (Korean Ball-Jointed Dolls aka BJDs) with kitten head or marine-cat with siren tail! I’ll finish with a fashion dummy to epitomize the topic: doll, animal, fashion, profit, idol.

Non mi piace tutto qllo che vedo, né credo che appaia tutto per una buona causa che non sia il profitto… e però sono interessata, quindi registro. Creare ibridi bambola-animale è un vecchio concept con molte derive contemporanee (basti pensare a tutti quei personaggi di cartoni e fumetti e al relativo merchandising!) rafforzato da un sentimento più ancestrale e potente che ci predispone ad idoli ibridi, come nel mito e in molte religioni. Tornando a noi oggi, guardatevi la “Pecora con l’orecchino di perla” di Svjetlan Junakovic confrontata con lo stesso soggetto in versione Blythe; o la bamboloide creatura dipinta da Ray Caesar e le PIPOS (Ball-Jointed Dolls coreane, cioè bamboline articolate, ovvero BJD) con testa di gattina o il gatto marino con coda di sirena! Finirò con un manichino utile a riassumere l’argomento: bambola, animale, moda, profitto, idolo.
