Carved Curves

Beyond paper dolls, beside Cardboard Ladies. Taking inspiration from Christian Tagliavini's Dame di Cartone, the blogger(s) named Sabine & Pierre-Paul Manosque 1) crafted doll-sized finely printed cardboard dresses, 2) created backgrounds to match and 3) made a beatiful shooting of these vinyl girls in bidimensional outfits. Please enjoy the full story, here. But what I really love, is how influencing and impactful a creative idea can reveal, how generous, alive and unpredictable the development of its interpretations. Knowing him, I wonder whether Christian, when he invented his series with models clad in papercut paradigmatic costumes, already wanted to create a visual statement. However, the Manosques just didn't imitate him, but translated the mood and the method in a different scale - a dollcultural one, this time - and challenged the deceptive passage from 2 to 3 dimensions as well.

Wonderful piece of artwork that plays with the light in a very elegant way.
The lines are so smooth and lofty that they remind me of a butterfly...
