Fashioncamp!

Today and tomorrow, fashioncamp in Milan, a barcamp on the state and/or the future of fashion. I’ve been the very first speaker of this event this morning, presenting FashionDollCult-urecamp aka “Dolls reflect (on) fashion”. I’ve uploaded the file on slideshare and hope it will be available and downloadable asap. The green face in the pic is me. Supported by a bunch of dear friends, found lots of people, had some surprising meeting, spotted many many hints and interesting tracks to explore.

Oggi e domani, fashioncamp a Milano, barcamp sullo stato e/o sul futuro della moda. Sono stata la primissima relatrice dell’evento stamattina, presentando FashionDollCult-urecamp, per meglio dire “Le bambole riflettono (sul)la moda”. Ho caricato il file su slideshare e spero che sia visibile e scaricabile al più presto. La faccia verde nella foto sono io. Con un gruppo di care amiche, ho trovato un sacco di gente, fatto alcuni incontri sorprendenti, scoperto parecchi spunti e percorsi interessanti da seguire.

Beware of “fashionista”

This is not a fashion-victimist blog, although fashion dolls are a relevant topic here. Plus, among the sectorial mantras, I most of all detest the word “fashion-ista” (in association with its Italian corre-sponding adjective “modaiolo”) just implying a me-too level, an acritical imitation. Therefore, to exorcize, I’m exasperating the concept with the little help of Pat, doll collector, who shared a convincing fashionista Ken pic, I hope being aware of the polemic use I would do of it.

Questo non è un blog fashion-vittimista, benché le fashion dolls siano qui un argomento di rilievo. C’è in più che, tra i mantra di settore, più di tutto detesto la parola “fashionista” (e il suo corrispondente italiano “modaiolo"), che implica un livello me-too di acritica imitazione. Perciò, per esorcizzare, esaspero il concetto con un piccolo aiuto di Pat, doll collector, che ha condiviso la foto di un Ken fashionista convincente, spero sapendo dell’uso polemico che ne avrei fatto.
