Michael Wolf strikes again. Here the German photographer’s
tour in a doll factory in China. Did you expect dirt, slavery, grumpy faces?
No, not at least here in this series which represents a real “Toy Story” in the
author’s concept. And do you think that mass produced dolls are still
fashionable once you have seen their making? I say yes. Because I know
that even a serial item can come out from the factory with a unique feature or
flaw or print – a curl, a color, a seam, whatever – which makes it mine.

Cina. Vi aspettavate sporco, schiavitù, facce imbronciate? No, perlomeno qui in qsta
serie, che rappresenta, stando al concetto dell’autore, un’autentica “Toy Story”.
Pensate che le bambole prodotte in massa siano ancora affascinanti dopo
aver visto come si fa a farle? Io dico di sì, per me lo sono ancora. Perché so
che perfino una cosa seriale può uscire dalla fabbrica con una caratteristica
o un difetto o impronta unica – un ricciolo, un colore, una cucitura,
qualunque altro dettaglio – che la rende mia.
