Good grammar is sexy

 

Why is this doll of mine reading erotic stories? Here’s how. Far from being a grammar nazi, I have nevertheless created months ago a facebook group about spotting/fighting examples of poor language in media. Sic stantibus rebus (i.e., in these circumstances) I happened to intercept a like-minded photocontest named “Good grammar is sexy”, and accepted to send my creative entry. I did it dollcultural. I made a donkey-eared hat for my Momoko and took a webcam pic. Look, she wears a baby doll but this won’t make her sexier (I imagined), since she’s not paying attention to her language, where she could well do it. Now, the funny thing is that my entry won me abook. Yes, the one you see above, signed and handed by the author. Thanks Inachis Io!

Com’è che le mie bambole leggono racconti erotici? Ecco qui. Lungi dall’essere una grammar nazi, ho nondimeno creato un po’ di mesi fa un gruppo su facebook per il gusto di scovare/combattere la sciatteria del linguaggio dei media. Sic stantibus rebus (stando così le cose), mi è capitato di intercettare un photocontest – chiamato “Good grammar is sexy” – dove la si pensava allo stesso modo e ho accettato di spedire la mia interpretazione. L’ho fatta dollculturale. Ho fabbricato un cappello con le orecchie d’asino per la mia Momoko, e ho scattato con la webcam. Vedete, lei indossa un baby doll, ma ciò non la rende più sexy (ho immaginato), perché non cura il linguaggio, mentre potrebbe ben farlo. Il buffo è che qsta mia entry mi ha fatto vincere un libro. This is one of the cleanest and sincerely brightest pics entered in the dollcultural photocontest I quoted a few weeks ago. I was among the judges, and always voted the entries without knowing the authors’ names. Look at this tidy Blythe echoing an ad of the 60s. Now I know it’s by Emma, I’m sure her concepts impress me independently and anyway.

Qsta è una delle foto più pulite e sinceramente brillanti tra quante concorrevano al photocontest dollculturale che citavo qlche settimana fa. Ero uno dei giudici, e ho sempre votato le foto senza sapere i nomi degli autori. Guardate qsta Blythe tutta precisina che sembra fare il verso ad una pubblicità anni ’60. Adesso che so che è di Emma, sono sicura che i suoi concept mi fanno colpo indipendentemente e comunque.

Photocontest and photo context

Collecting and taking photos are quite connected behaviours. But we’re not about catalogations, inventories or doll taxonomy here. We’re just inviting you to visit the second edition of a photo contest promoted by CVBI (Comunità Virtuale Barbie Italia) and featuring dolls as models, engaged in a series of thematic challenges. The context is a much more delimited one than, say, flickr et similia. It all happens within a community with amateurs, non professional contestants, using their digital camera. However, you might enjoy finding original concepts.

Fare collezioni e fare foto sono due comportamenti collegati. Ma non siamo qui per catalogazioni, inventari o tassonomie di bambole. Bensì per un invito a visitare la 2^ edizione di un concorso fotografico promosso dalla CVBI (Comunità Virtuale Barbie Italia) con bambole come modelle, impegnate in una serie di sfide tematiche. Il contesto è molto più delimitato di ambienti come, diciamo, flickr e simili. Tutto succede nell'ambito di una community con concorrenti non professionisti che usano la loro macchina digitale. Però, potete divertirvi a trovare concept originali.

The Milky Way

Momoko’s face in a milk pool. This is an example of how portraying a doll can be luminous and affective (yes, I said affective, NOT effective). Maybe because I’ve seen too many dark interpretations of beauty, this is literally emerging to my attention. It’s being presented in a photocontest – link below.
